    Anyone who thinks this was unintentional hasn't been paying close enough attention to how these men operate.

    They did this to see if they could insult the King of England and get away with it. If it started a war instead, all the better.

    It's still incompetent wrt everything any of the rest of us value. But when your #1 goal is ego inflation at the expense of as many others as possible, it was brilliantly played. Peak #AbuseCulture.

    It's a troll, yeah? An epic fucking troll against a literal king. What better way for these assholes to get their rocks off?

    And just like when you call out the troll in your mentions, they play stupid. Because that doubles down on the joke. On the power play. This is just 4chan antics going into global politics.

    It puts the King in a double-bind. He can't call it out for what it is without looking petty and causing an international scene. Oh, he just had no tolerance these poor mentally deficient dumbshits! They just couldn't help themselves and he's being so irrational and mean!

    So any slight he acts on will appear like overreaction. So he's likely going to have to suck it up and take the insult. But it's absolutely an intended insult.

    I've been in this exact situation in a domestic abuse scenario. Not that I think King Charles is any kind of victim — he's one of the most privileged people in the world. But the administration wants him to remember that he's not THE MOST privileged. These dynamics are the same from bottom to top.

      @corbden it's kinda not an insult in that he's the king of Australia (and the other realms) just as much as the king of the UK. If it's real it's just maybe a bit weird/unusual, it seems unlikely that anyone here will give a monkeys.

        @corbden
        I will be a distinct triumph for the their tecno-fascist state to blatantly subjugate for all the world to see, the king of the nation that their country historically became independent from.

            @rrb I didn't say their playing 4D chess. They are still playing to their instincts. But their instincts are all about power moves, and this is a power move.

              @rrb I've made an intense study of this mentality since my abuser repeatedly gaslit and confused me for seven years, and in the decade since leaving him. And prior to that, in my cult research. You won't find any of it making sense from a pure incompetence model (my abuser was an extremely competent and clever man). But all of it comes together when you understand power and status as a core motive.

                @corbden I just really doubt that they know the flags of any foreign countries, except (maybe) Canada. Their instincts are to act like petulant 3 year olds.

                But, you are right, they are a personality cult. And, there might be warped subordinates who are not idiots. (OK. JD Vance is a slimeball, but not a fool.)

                They are also trying to domestically abuse the whole country. Many are being gaslit. (Interesting Economist story recently. US farmers have increasing bankruptcy and suicide rates because of his policies. They give Trump very high favorability ratings.)

                Hmm. I guess I ended up agreeing with you about 80% and me about 20%.

                  @corbden Sorry to hear about your abuse. I have some GBV projects. A lot of men have issues.

                  (I hope I am not one.)
