.Opening the door for AI bullshit is not even the worst part of this idea.

@lisamelton honestly I'd kind of like a choice of algorithms - not "whoever paid to be on front of my eyeballs" style "algorithm", but, for example, someone that would foreground people I follow who don't post often and tend to get buried in the strict reverse chronological algorithm.

@lisamelton if they want to create a mastodon client to do local AI for an algorithm, more power to them. I’m sure some people might like that, but it should absolutely be a choice, not the default.
I’m guessing that they’ve basically ignored all of the stories about Big Social’s algorithms being manipulated just to keep you engaged.
