Pondering ideas for #mastodon
One of the issues with social media is the business side of it, and that is what makes it always go to shit.
Mastodon/Fediverse is, so far, pretty clean on that because of so many people putting their own time and money in to this at every level. Thank you.
What would happen if, say, UK gov was to make a UK public use UK mastodon server, government funded. And promote it and also use for official stuff as well.
I have to wonder what impact that would have.

@dysfun OK I mean not just a gov server for gov use, I mean a public server for all UK citizens to use.
A gov server is also sensible, and probably best as a separate server with a gov based URL.
It would perhaps be one way to curb the atrocities of "social media" that govs want to tackled (badly) with age checks.
