@xeno @OV I need to buy a sewing machine, I have the pattern and fabric for a smolhaj sized ANTISTATISKHAJ (made from appropriately colored carbon-thread-filled ESD fabric) but have no way to assemble it currently.

Then he can go on field trips all over the place even to ESD-sensitive locations where normal Blåhajar don't get to see

@xeno @OV I'm picturing a customer being like "hey you can't take that in the lab" and then I'm like "no it's fine he's grounded" and point to the little coiled wire coming off the snap at the base of the dorsal fin

@xeno @OV Backstory: friend at the time worked for an aerospace company, were doing some rad tolerance testing for satellite boards but the hardware was having some issues and not ready for testing.

They were paying some crazy number of dollars an hour for accelerator lab time and not using it so he asks the guys if he can irradiate his furby while they wait and they're like "sure, as long as you leave it in a lead box until it cools off a bit".

                    This was the result.

I can only imagine how much awkward explaining they had to do to frustrated RSOs lol

@xeno @OV furby got activated in the proton beam which resulted in a lot of really spicy short half life activation products.

This was after a week or so of cooldown IIRC and cool enough it could be handled for a short time, a week or so later it was reading background and safe to take home.

Apparently it also got brain damage, some of the animations and sounds were corrupted and it would make random spastic movements from bits in the firmware getting flipped

@OV@blahaj.social @azonenberg@ioc.exchange I saw that in the description, poor guy

glad the activation products died down quickly, it usually works that way but I do not trust a furby to not contain elements that get spicy and don’t decay so quickly

apparently they’re fine though, good to know lol

@xeno @OV yeah i mean i have no idea what the beam diameter was or how long he was in the beam or what the proton flux was or anything.
