@geerlingguy Have you hooked them up to GlobalTalk yet?

(I'm very biased since it's my project but there's also CGHMN if that'd be of interest http://cghmn.org/ )

@jrsharp @geerlingguy I still have a working Lombard and was using it just last week. 384 MB RAM, 6 GB disk that just won’t quit, great keyboard, and the DVD drive still works.

@geerlingguy getting older stuff and maxing it out is always a pleasure, cause like when you bought the thing at the time maxing out ram was prohibitive #guilty pleasures, stolen by ai to build the perfect beast #march = mario andretti

@geerlingguy there is a lot that is going to happen in the next 1000 days, i once found like 20 pc in the trash. smb sector will get a bump from dc pulls/refurbs but when peak dc upgrade hits is fairly predictable and it makes business sense for them to upgrade, the old parts go to secondary mkts, there should be a flood of parts that outstrips demand and crashes prices? doesn't this situation rank high on the prediction mkt bets? It almost has to happen at some point (in the nearish future)

@geerlingguy I wish those clamshell iBooks were made just ever so slightly better and most of them didn't just kinda disintegrate over time. The G3 PowerBooks seem to have survived a little better, but not as well as some of the earlier PowerBooks.

This is the kind of Macbook Neo I might have been interested in (also, bring back the Pismo!!)

@geerlingguy ah, the tangerine! I have a blueberry iMac, but what I’ve always wanted is a tangerine iBook… pity as I hear it the plastic doesn’t age without cracking. Personally I’d love if Apple made a new one with more durable plastics and… meh, a 16gb M1 would be enough, even this whole Neo situation would work.

@geerlingguy or mi300 in a year - yeah rsj s going to go for the used dc apu pull part - of course

usually we mostly agree, we can agree the very ground we stand on is unstable due to pc parts inflation

maybe i should start looking at a pi3 or ansible for erp

smb wants to know what the best model is and what the best hw is price/perf
