I’ve felt it too.
But really, we shouldn’t.
Every serious step toward decentralization is a win for the open social web.

I think it's naive to think that the VCs aren't planning for monetization where despite how they squeeze their users for profit and credible exit is possible, most users feel stuck anyway.
I think the parallel is with Google. The BS app view vs Google search and email. Main portals. A world of open protocols and people could leave, but they mostly don't. And @pluralistic says they are one of the best examples of enshittification.
