If spotting birds is something you enjoy, there are specific places you always remember, because that’s where you saw your very first [insert bird].

Some of my “lifers” were in simple places like a cemetery or a beach. Some were more exotic places like cenotes or rainforests.
But then there’s the story of my first Indigo Bunting sighting.
From inside the car.

@danmccullough I find the same for constellations. Always find them with a friend and that friend will always be there in some way.

Beautiful! I hope to see one some day.
This reminded me of my in-laws telling us about learning they had to roll up their windows while at their cabin. The bluebirds in the area were enamored of their reflections and would sit on their open-windowed doors to check themselves out and poo inside the doors.

How in the world did you get that picture? Didn't you have to move?@tc_morekindness @8ofpentacles The Indigo Bunting was pretty obsessed with his reflection and was putting on a grand display of machismo. I just wanted to get home from a long day of work.

Right, he probably thought his reflection was another male. That must have been pretty distracting for him. Amazing picture. What a beautiful bird! -

@danmccullough @CiaraNi @8ofpentacles Here's a photo also from inside the car. I've captioned it as a chaffinch, it'll do for me.

I sadly no longer have the original, only this edited version I posted at photo.net years ago. A lifetime ago for some.
