    Okay.

I **do not** recommend Motorola Moto devices.

    1) They install *tons* of shitware on first setup - make sure to *not* connect to WiFi, skip phone setup, and disable the MotoApps app first
    2) Apparently, their updater might repeatedly shit its pants on trying to install an update, for no apparent reason, and adb logcat only says "I/O" error. And extended recovery is needed, using dubious tools and dubious firmware download sources.

Are phone manufacturers really **that** desperate for money, that they have to install so much shit on setup?
      Ffs.
I mean, yeah, software development in general is a shitty job, I get it, you have to keep providing security updates, devs want to be paid, but phones are a one-time-sale. It's probably a near complete loss business?
      *exasperated*
But is annoying your users to death really the solution?
I mean, yeah, I wouldn't "subscription pay" for Android security updates either (at least if it's >5€ per month).

      It's a stupid situation.
      Users don't want to pay.
      Users don't want ads.
      Users don't want bloatware.
Users want security updates for 10 years.

And then there are custom ROM developers which do the job for free, these poor souls.

I have no solution, I just want to rant about this.

@uvok Honestly, I don't get "you" people anymore.
I've just gotten a new Samsung phone (for work) and yes there's a ton of bloat on it. Took me about 10 minutes to uninstall and/or disable everything that I don't want.
WHY will people spend literal days getting Lineage (or whatever) installed, tweak weird shit around just so that their everyday apps kinda work, accept tradeoffs and limitations (no bank apps etc).. but spending a little time to de-bloat a stock ROM is an inacceptable burden..
