@floofpaldi I have covers for all my books before they’re even written. That’s why my day job is a graphic designer, not a writer! 😆

@superflippy It brings with it a level of confidence, right? Like hell yes, you can do the thing! You can write it after the cover is made. Society needs to hush and stop trying to tell us the order in which things should be done! I bet your covers are amazing, too.

#ScribesAndMakers 2.20 — The alpha male is a misconception perpetuated in popular media that our featured creator works against in her wolf books. What's a misconception that bothers you in popular media?

*cracks knuckles* Oooh, I could say so much about this one. Let me gather my thoughts first.

I write spicy or sweet romance. Paranormal romance, romantic fantasy, romantasy, dark romance, etc. The whole shebang. Let's talk about somethings that bother me about the genre, or common misconceptions you'll find. I'll list them.

      • Romantasy is only about dark themes... While some romantasy stories may have darker themes, there are also lighter and more lighthearted stories within the genre.
      • Romantasy is only about love... *rolls eyes* This is a misconception, as romantasy can explore various aspects of love, including relationships, love triangles, and even love for magical creatures. Basically, understanding these misconceptions can help our readers appreciate the depth and variety of romantasy stories available in the market.
      • Romance novels are all the same... This is a common belief that romance novels follow a formulaic structure, but in reality (as we as writers obviously know), they can vary widely in plot and character development.
      • Romance is only about love at first sight... Ugh. Romance novels explore a wide range of love stories, including misunderstandings, personal growth, and the complexities of relationships.

#ScribesAndMakers 2.21 — Talk To Me Day. Featured Creator: @Firlefanz

From one author with "wolf shifters" to another, something along the same vein, I have two questions for new readers to see...

      • How does the full moon affect your wolf's behavior, or do you give them control over their transformations?

      • What's the most challenging part of living with a wolf identity in your world?

I thought they might be interesting for others to read.

#ScribesAndMakers 2.22 — Create a poll giving a line from a book you wrote (or a favorite if you haven't written one) along with lines from two other books. Ask people to choose which was from yours.

        1. “Soft hearts don’t survive here.”

        “What kinds of hearts do?”

He leaned down until their eyes were level. “Hearts with teeth.” He reached out and gently gripped her chin in his hand, rubbing the pad of his thumb across her full, bottom lip.

        She was frozen in place.

“C’mon, angel, show me your teeth.”

        2. “Stay out of trouble, Curious Moth,” he said, as he strode for the door. Curious Moth. A nickname. A fitting one, too, given the fact that she had no intentions of avoiding the flame.

        3. She laughed suddenly, the sound flighty and dizzying. “Stop it. I’m honestly dreaming. I must be. You would never say those words to me.”

“Wouldn’t I?” His eyes were defiant. “I have half a mind to ravish you here to prove it.”

“Then do it,” she breathed, chin tilting upwards. She met his stare with a look of pure rebellion. “Touch me. Unravel me. Rediscover me.”

          #ScribesAndMakers 2.23 — Reveal the answer to yesterday's poll.

          1. I'm really honored that some of you thought this one was from me. Even my girlfriend did as well. This passage was from my favorite author, Kaylie Smith, and takes place during Phantasma. I could have chosen a hundred different quotes from this book. Gosh, I can't get enough of her writing. I just want to drown in her books. Her writing style is the closest thing I've ever found to my own as well, which she actually told me before. That touched me deeply. We've gotten to know each other and she's become a rather big fan of my Wings of Quiet Longing as well, which makes me happier than anything else in the world ever could. She's the coolest cat ever. 100/10 for her writing, highly recommend.

          2. This one I had to tweak ever so slightly, only because the book is First Person POV. It's from Nocticadia by Keri Lake. She's another favorite author of mine, honestly. This particular book was a wild ride, and it was also my introduction to her writing as well. Again, I could have used any number of quotes from this one as well. So, so good. 12/10, highly recommend if you enjoy romance.

          3. This one is from my own WIP. It's from a conversation between Alistair and Fenella, and it takes place during a dream sequence. I love this chapter so much, and it inspired my entire story.

#ScribesAndMakers 2.25 — Would you stream your creative process / the creation of your work? Why or why not?

No, never. Not only is my mind a chaotic mess, but I also have an *audio* podcast. I have a "radio show" for a reason. No video stuff of me, please. I never wanted a video podcast with me in it. I have 32k listeners, give or take a few on any given week, and they don't seem to mind. However, would I try talking about it on an audio podcast? Maybe. Who knows. Someday, perhaps. But I would never stream stuff like that. I love having the ability to edit out the stupid things I say lol. Putting a podcast up and streaming something are two vastly different beasts. I edit my own paranormal podcast, and I would never relinquish that control to someone else, either. On another subject, I also stream gaming stuff, but there's no video of me in it, only the screen as I'm playing, of course.

#ScribesAndMakers 2.26 — Do you abandon creative projects? If so, how do determine when to abandon them?

I have in the past, but I try not to. If I start something, it's because I *want* to write it, and the ideas will usually always come, no matter how long the process takes. Patience is key.

If I have to abandon something, it's because that muse and those ideas just *never* come to me. It might take a year, maybe longer. But when the realization and the feeling arrive, I'll know it's time to say goodbye and give up on the WIP. It's an awful feeling, to be honest. I hate that.

#ScribesAndMakers 3.1 — How much time do you expect to have for creative pursuits this month?

As much time as I can humanly spend on it while also working on commissioned projects for friends as well. I had no choice but to make February off, mostly. Life was insane, things were going on, as everyone knows, and I just couldn't make myself want to write at all. Now it's time to lock in.

I don't have a question, per se. I just wanted to say that you're one of my favorite writers around, and I'm so thankful that we've become friends over the years. You're always so supportive, so kind, and I truly appreciate that about you. 🫂

Okay, maybe I'll throw in a tiny question as well. If you could choose anything new to throw into your writing and stories, just something to try in the future, what would you choose? Unexplored tropes, some new characters for us readers, etc.

I don't actually choose the title. Believe me, it's the other way around. It chooses me, instead. These things happen organically for most writers.

Not exactly. I lost a family member, someone I was very close with, and it's been a rather tough month, along with some other stuff that's going on as well. It's a struggle at the moment, but things *will* get better in the future. I'm staying positive.

                          #ScribesAndMakers 3.17 — What’s a creative habit you’ve wanted to adopt but haven’t yet?

For me, it's writing every single day, without fail, even if it's just a few sentences or paragraphs. Maybe someday that could be me. I either write nothing for a week or two, or I'm suddenly typing away like a madman, like I'm being hunted by a dark and scary god and my life actually depends on it. I wish there was a middle ground.

This quote suits the moment: "One day you're unstoppable and the next day you're staring at your keyboard like it personally betrayed you."

#ScribesAndMakers 3.18 — If your creative work could speak, what would it say about you?

That I love dark or morally gray characters. That I love mending broken relationships. I love "found family" situations, and friendships where nothing can break those two besties up, no matter what. I believe love truly exists and that it will always prevail in the end. That there's light in the darkness, and you just have to find it. Or even this: hope is everything, and we need it now more than ever.

#ScribesAndMakers 3.19 — How did you feel when you finish your last project?

Very good, actually. It was a shorter story, only a few chapters, and it felt great to finally wrap up the story and give my readers what I hoped was a satisfying ending. Thankfully, it was really well received and everyone was happy with it. It's always hard to say goodbye, but still.

                                #ScribesAndMakers 3.20 — Self-promotion day. Shame optional. Boost away!

I'm a podcast host and an indie romance author of many different genres and participate in a big number of zines (either for big charities or money for myself). Some of the zines are Doctor Who related things, but most are for original work: Paranormal Romance, Gothic Romance, SFF, Science Fiction, Cyberpunk, Horror, Romantasy, Fantasy, Dark Romance, etc. Aside from that, and while I write original stories, I've also written fanfiction for many different worlds (again, including #DoctorWho). The muse never runs dry. You can read my work for free over at the link down below.

You can find my weird and wonderful tales here: https://archiveofourown.org/users/agoodtuckering

I run my own hashtag for writers as well. It can be found here: #PennedPossibilities. It's a fun community! I'm here to help with the storytelling process.

I'm gonna cheat here. I'm going to write a micro-thingy about my current WIP, #WingsOfQuietLonging, not so much a micro-story. In fact, I've got two.

                                      • Bound by fate, cursed love endures.

                                      • Fangs bared, love lost in twilight.

I have never been a well-put-together person in my life. That's definitely not a way to describe me. I have AuDHD and OCD, and I'm surviving MS. I'm a bit nutty but my friends say, all-around, I'm pretty lovable. 🤣
