Has anyone ever tried to use UV gel nail polish as soldermask or silkscreen material when reworking a PCB? How does it handle e.g. soldering in close proximity?

@azonenberg I use it in place of conformal coating sometime, and it really doesn't like to be very hot. Soldering will burn right through the stuff I've used.

@cliffle the big downside is the stuff you buy from amazon or AliExpress has no specs and no SDS.

If i could get a sample pack of a specific Taiyo Yuden P/N it'd be a different story

@azonenberg yeah nah don't use it. my wife uses builder gel for her nails now (she used to use acrylic but recently switched) and there's no way it'd stand up to soldering nearby. you'll get a right mess.

@azonenberg if you figure out how to get a sample like that, please let me know! I spent a couple months a few years ago trying to get at-home clear solder mask for my glass pcb’s, and couldn’t find a good solution.
