    Use Snowflake to give censorship the slip in places where Tor is blocked.

    #Iran #Solidarity

    Snowflake comes embedded in Tor-powered apps like Tor Browser, Orbot, and Ricochet-Refresh. If any of these apps can’t connect to the Tor network, you can use #Snowflake to unblock Tor.

            Use Snowflake to give censorship the slip in places where Internet is blocked.

            Snowflake allows you to connect to the Tor network in places where Tor is blocked by routing your connection through volunteer proxies located in uncensored countries.

            Similar to VPNs, which help users bypass Internet censorship, Snowflake disguises your Internet activity as though you’re making a video or voice call, making you less detectable to Internet censors.

                    I'm running 2 of them for a long time, at best I sometimes relay multiple GBytes (yes those 8 bit wankers!) per hour. I've never had issues. It's not an exit relay, you forward traffic only. It comes in over UDP, who wouldn't want to use UDP haha!

                      Maybe to add something that was a bit hard for me to read between the lines: As I understand it, the snowflake proxy will allow people in restricted internet regions to only connect to the Tor network.

                      This is nothing like running a Tor exit node.

                      You just bridge the gap from that person to the Tor network, and none of the users internet activities will trace back to you, thanks to Tor.

                      There should be no legal risk in running this, AFAIK (IANAL)

                                Internet-Shutdowns in Afrika: Eine Krise für Menschenrechte und Demokratie

                                Internetsperren sind ein zunehmend verbreitetes Werkzeug autoritärer Regierungen, um Informationen zu kontrollieren und abweichende Meinungen zu unterdrücken. Damit sind sie zu einer wachsenden Bedrohung für die Demokratie in Afrika geworden. Das sollte auch den Globalen Norden interessieren.

                                  @autonomysolidarity

                                  Mitmachen ist ganz einfach:
                                  Vorschlag: Auf dem Handy die App "orbot" herunterladen, starten, verbinden und dann unten auf das Herzchen gehen.
                                  Hinweis: Das kann Euren Akku schnell leer saugen: Deshalb macht das einfach auf Arbeit oder nachts, wenn Ihr nen Stromanschluss habt.
                                  Und freut euch immer, wenn Ihr auf die Herzchen-Seite schaut, wie viele Menschen bei Euch mitgesurft sind.
