It’s a combination of circumstances that led to this and I am guilty as well. For myself, if neither candidate appeals to me, I don’t vote and I imagine I am not alone. We didn’t choose the lesser of two evils(Kamala) because we didn’t think we had to, never in our lives did we think we would elect a convicted felon, sexual predator and insurrectionist. What we didn’t realize is that there are many stupid people in this country who would.

@dademurphy Your action (or lack thereof) gave their votes more power than they should have. I'm not sure if you can call them stupid.

      Washington goes full gangster mode:

Trump ensures a payout of 1.7 billion dollars to his army of thugs that attacked the Capitol on January 6.

Obviously the press wants to know why tax payers should fund payments to convicted criminals, but Trump replies that they had unfairly suffered jail time — you know… because they only attacked the Capitol for him.

The midterm elections really are the last chance for US voters to save democracy.

@randahl On the morning of 14 May 2026, the U.S. Office of Government Ethics quietly released a filing that detonated like a slow-motion bomb across Washington. One hundred and thirteen pages. A cumulative value estimated between USD 220 million and USD 750 million. And at the centre of it all: the name of the sitting President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

@randahl The midterm elections really are [another] chance for US voters to [realize that their gullible belief that this was ever a democracy is precisely how we end up with fascism].
