Is there really no reasonably priced streaming amplifier that can do Qobuz Connect? I don’t feel like spending nearly a grand for the mediocre speakers I have in the office. And I certainly don’t want to spend another grand for matching speakers.
@partim I have stuff from https://www.allo.com/ that runs moode and then control qobuz via BubbleUpNP. It's not ideal but it works. I like qobuz but I wish they made qobuz connect more open.

@redjives I have a HifiBerry amp but I may have fried it. So before buying a new one I wanted to explore alternative options since streaming via AirPlay seems patchy.
Openness would be nice, indeed. Alternatively, if it becomes popular enough, someone might reverse engineer it a la librespot.

@julian_b @partim I bought a Marantz integrated amp recently and it's ok. It also has Denon/Marantz streaming stack called HEOS, which should support Qobuz through firmware updates: https://community.qobuz.com/press-en/heos-app-now-supports-native-qobuz-streaming
It's closed and proprietary, though, but a ready-made and integrated solution has its good sides, too. Even volume control from phone works.
Don't know how the Denons compare to Wiim Amp. The cheapest Denon branded units cost around 450 € so these are quite similarly priced.

@partim @sampe @julian_b That WiM amp looks fabulous. Is there any similar brand with fresh and new industrial design and UI for the home theatre market?
I.e. it should also have FM tuner, HDMI inputs and output (with audio input through the HDMI out, if that is a thing, I don't recall), the usual multi-channel decoding things, 5.1 output.
Why can't Apple buy Denon or Sony...

@tml @partim @julian_b You're right about the AV receiver design stagnation, the designs have stayed the same for ages. I spotted Marantz Model M1 as a bit cleaner design when comparing.
Getting rid of some of input and outputs helps making the device smaller, and I'd argue that switching HDMI inputs within the TV is now a valid option. HDMI ARC (audio return channel) means that the receiver can have a single HDMI port, to which the TV pipes the multi-channel streams from its other inputs.
