    Twenty-eight days.

Today, it is exactly four weeks since I died.

Okay, maybe I didn't technically die, or maybe I did, I don't really know..
I do know that I did have a cardiac arrest and got CPR for three minutes before getting the defibrillator paddles twice and reawakening to a familiar, but somehow altered reality.

Waking up each day hits different now.

    Good morning.

@dabertime Good morning. Keep on breathing and beating along with the rest of us. I'm thankful that you are still kicking!

@lifewithtrees My life now feels more fragile, precious, simpler yet grander.
What I can do and how forever changed, heighten sensitivity, awareness.
          Priorities, relationships, gratitude,...

@dabertime Amazing. Kind of uber-example of adversity teaching us. Sad that most of us need a wake up call to really start to appreciate just being alive!

@dabertime Good morning and glad things worked out! As someone who did volunteer first response for a couple decades I like to hear when everything works.

And now be that guy 🙂 My understanding is that if the paddles worked then it wasn’t cardiac arrest (no heart beat). Defibrillator’s only work when the heart is fibrillating.

@Chigaze first round the heart was still beating. Second round, the doctor said there was absolutely no pulse. Hence rub crushing CPR. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@dabertime No pulse can still be fibrillating, or at least that’s what we were taught because when it’s like that it’s not moving blood anymore.

However the technical details don’t matter as much as that it worked. 🙂

@Chigaze I can assure you that my records show and confirmed by the cardiologists in the cardiac unit that I was in when it happened, that no matter what you want to call it, my heart had indeed stopped. No rhythm. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@dabertime dude... We need to start a club. I had a cardiac arrest in 2012 and as a gift from the health care system I got a shiny new implanted defibrillator....so happy that you made it out the other side. Take good care. I'm here if you need to commiserate.

@dabertime generally it should be 10 years. The battery on my first one went fast, the 2nd one, was on recall due to battery issues and then I had a lead fracture so they changed the lead and the device at the same time so I am on my 3rd device in 13 years.

@vickietorious The ICD information brochure that I got shows a person on a paddle board. I am looking forward to this as I have never used one before. 😉
