I know 3D prints are a joke to many people even to this day, but I've been finding myself just making more and more of the tools I need. For example, I needed a sanding wedge and didn't have the exact kind I needed at hand. Two hours later I had this. With high infill and extra perimeter it's solid as hell and saved me from a drive to the hardware store the next day. #3dprinting

Just for the record, I didn't design this one, it's from here:

@apzpins You are really making the technology work for you, Ari! Very resourceful.

@apzpins Is the screw easy to grab? Looks neat!

@apzpins That wedge looks awesome.
It's wonderful to see you write about these things, especially amid growing proposals to lock down 3D printing generally to thwart certain applications.
Even simple posts like this one illustrate how technology aids your efforts, and highlight the value of the community and shared templates.
I'm not even a printer myself, but appreciate its utility and potential.

@wildrikku Yes, seems fine. Both I've printed use the same mechanism, just the wedge itself changes. The maker has also made a tool to turn it if it's too small for your fingers.

#3dprinting@weetwo I hope to dispel the idea that 3D printing is still something of a geek thing making things just for the sake of trying to justify the existence of 3D printers. I see I still have some PR work to do, considering how often Youtube videos for example result in comments like "that will never last".
After learning basic CAD skills I've finally reached a spot where I can recreate pinball parts that have not either been manufactured for a long time or the current era replicas are just cheap crap. Plus I always like to put my own spin on them to not just copy something. Naturally I too share all the models I've made.
I've been following the 3D printing lockdown with frustrated disbelief. It's yet another thing where people who don't understand technology are trying to lock it down in ways that only make it awkward for the honest users and stop absolutely zero criminals doing questionable stuff with the printers. Besides, the whole "oh no, they're printing guns" is such a lame excuse, like you couldn't create guns with a CNC lathe/router or literally any other million ways.
