It's a hugging face domain for AI projects, and it's currently being used to launch mutual aid scams.

I would be a lot more enthusiastic about 'ai projects' if they turned their efforts towards removing spam instead of fucking causing it.

Same reason why I don't really have much respect for red teamers in general.

Sure, there's some individual exceptions who have shown that they use that skillset productively.

But most of the time all they do is cause a big fucking mess that I have to fucking clean up, and I'm fucking sick of this shit.

@munin @alice it's a thought, but I don't know that I want the spammishness of my communications being judged by an LLM.

My emails get voided often enough already.

@munin @patcharcana most anti-spam systems use AI (and have for years). It's not an LLM, but it's naïve Bayesian classifiers, support vector machines, and logistic regression models.

@munin @alice once again, I don't WANT computers to pass the Turing Test. When computers pass the Turing Test, i.e. when they fool humans into thinking they're real humans, all sorts of high-scale scams are enabled.

@andrew @alice a new account with repeated requests for money sent to many accounts.
These account generally only have the same begging post (some times a few re-posts) The use the same/similar social engineering scripts.

@andrew it's a fake video of someone in the hospital and a plea to send money, but they're doing a few things to make it sneakier (like quoting their original post, and making that non-quotable, so the quoting account gets reported, but not the original with the bad link).
