You know the "stop posting about among us" meme? Yeah, that but with AI.
It's starting to fatigue me having to deal with colleagues now that they're all sold on the AI hype.
Today one of them came to me asking what prompt I'd give an AI to solve a certain problem. What? I'm a software developer; I write code, not prompts. And it was someone I really looked up to, because he was very capable and knowledgeable. Now he's dependent on AI.
And, for the first time ever, I saw a "CLAUDE.md" and Claude co-authored commits in one of our repositories.
I'm the only one left who doesn't use AI and it's impacting my already dwindling motivation. It's not gonna be fun trying to work on something when everyone else will try to make me give that task to an AI (which won't accomplish anything, especially not the way I'd want to).
Like, the whole thing that keeps me going is the satisfaction of solving problems and writing clean code and the learning that comes with it. Why would I willingly deprive myself of that? What would I be left with?
I don't know what else to say except that I'm very tired of this. But it's making my will to avoid such 'tools' ever stronger.
