Ants always seem to be hurrying places. They're not just strolling across the sidewalk, they're swarming across; they're pouring into and then out the other side of tire #ruts in the mud as if they were doughboys making a charge from the trenches.

Which makes this one ant here in front of me extra odd. It's walking slowly like it's bewildered, like this is some strange dream. Like it's a Chinese philosopher who expected to wake to find himself a butterfly, but instead...
