Yeah, it's Katie Porter for me.

@mekkaokereke but since we have it - I'll vote accordingly. Would I much prefer rank choice or something similar - yes. Is that likely here in CA? Nope. or at least not anytime soon.
Until then keeping CA in the firmly blue camp is really important - not least because I'm a taxpayer, homeowner, and parent here and I shudder to think what a mess we could be in for if a MAGA GOP candidate wins in the fall.
And no it's not great.
I get that. But my chances of being shot and killed by a cop are *higher* under a "tough on crime" Democrat, than under a MAGA Republican. My chances of being falsely imprisoned as a Black man are *higher* under a "tough on crime" Democrat, than under a MAGA republican.
The year that cops killed the most people in recorded US history, was under Biden. It was lower in Trump's first term, and it's lower now under his second.
This isn't praise for Trump. This is pointing out that "Tough on crime" Democrats are objectively more dangerous for Black US citizens trying not to get killed by cops, than MAGA Republicans.
I do understand that life is better for white people in California under "tough on crime" Democrats than under MAGA Republicans. But I'm not going to vote to increase my own chances of getting shot to make white folks' lives more convenient. I'd rather load balance the fascism so that it's not all focused on people that look like me. And there are millions of Black Californian voters like me.
My recommendation is that Californians choose a candidate that is more palatable to Black voters. Or we get a redux of the millions of Black men that refused to vote for Biden.

You can switch the years and watch Biden set a high score for "US police killing people" in 2021.
Then he beat his high score in 2022.
Then he beat that high score in 2023.
Then he set the all time record in 2024.

And yes, this ramp up was a direct result of policies that Biden put in place, that Black civil rights leaders and criminal justice reformers opposed at the time, and told him that this would be the result. And he refused to listen. Again.
Then so many Black men said, "We will never vote for Biden again!" That he could not possibly win. He had to drop out. Then Harris tried to win those Black voters back, and came very close! But not close enough. Trump won.
Then the number of people killed by police came down under Trump in 2025. Because mayors of cities with a lot of Black people, finally did what civil rights leaders have been asking cities to do for decades.

LOL!
Yeah, no thanks.
RIP Stephon Clark.
@mekkaokereke That's disgusting.
My god.
"We're traumatized by all of you noticing we racism-shot someone again."
I don't how a person's mind gets this warped. Racism is a pathology.
