    Hey #Ottawa!

How would you like to have a #Mastodon of Ottawa meet-up on Saturday, May 30th, with a rain day of Sunday the 31st?

Location: I wanted something outdoors, with shade, picnic tables, easy access via LRT, bike paths, and parking for #AutoWa users.

I'm thinking a bring-you-own picnic type event, so I'm suggesting the two parks in the poll. Please vote for both if you are fine with either.

@WTL going to put this in the calendar. Looks like an interesting bike route from my Nepean location. Might give it a try ahead of time to explore.

There's a newish ped/bike bridge into VM park from Carleton U isn't there?

Yes and I am thinking of taking the LRT to Carleton and walking over to the picnic.

@WTL oh wait there's a route under the Heron Rd bridge from Hog's Back. That's a nice route to the picnic ground from the west.

@gardencat @WTL I do want to walk/ride over that bridge someday soon. I went to Carleton long before the bridge and it seems like an impossible luxury. 😂

@gardencat @ottaross It's a fairly short walk. I'll map it out if you like.

I mapped it as about 1 km, depending on where the group is in the park. I like that there are picnic tables.

@WTL that's a weekend I have my kids, so any planned outing may be aborted at the last second if someone is sick/tired/angry/sees a cool rock, but I'd love to try and make it!

More like there might be family obligations, wherein being a parent takes priority.

                          Somedays I need parenting.

@mlevison @WTL I'm in the same boat; most likely we will walk by, I'd say hello, and then the non-verbal lad will bolt for the Pavillion, but I'd like to dream!

@antonio106 @WTL I know, right? The five years I was at Carleton, I'd never once gone to VM park as it was so inaccessible back then without a car – but you could stare at it across the river.

@ottaross @WTL well, it was closer to my mom's house than CU, so it was not uncommon for me to bike through, visit my ducks over at Billings, and bike back through Brewer Park and Carleton on the other side, now there's a shortcut!
