@nblr how...??? Do I get to choose between AA and AAA or do I need both to run the mouse?

@nblr that's some @NanoRaptor shit.

@nblr That's quite neat, makes sure you can only use one type of battery at a time.
-
@nblr something working doesn’t mean it’s not stupid. A AAA battery and a AA battery? The AAA would run out faster needing to be replaced and you have to stock two different types of batteries.
@griffin30007 @nblr It's a clever but silly-looking "lockout* system that lets you use one AA or two AAAs, but without letting you mix different cell sizes at once. So it's actually meant to allow you to use whatever you happen to have on hand instead of needing one specific kind of battery.

@nblr AAAAA!

@nblr this is absolutely chaotic evil. The dissymmetry and layout of the thing make me scream and I don't even have a clinical OCD. It works in the same sense as the optimal 17 square packing works.

@nblr Is the idea that it works with a single battery and you can choose either kind of battery?

@nblr AAAAA!

@nblr so this his how the mouses work at Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters

@timolaine Correct.

@ska Exactly. The infuriating thing is that it is actually useful design - it even could be construed as "good design" because it physically implements the "either AA or AAA, just one is fine" constraint unambiguously. grr!

@nblr God bless the glorious Mad Bastard who came up with this.

@meeper YES and NO.

@nblr that's some @NanoRaptor shit.
@pawv I fear, it's slightly below that level. @NanoRaptor level would mean fitting the matching battery in:

Obviously you just need a battery type XXX for this.

@nblr I don't see the evil part so def chaotic good.

@griffin30007 @nblr
No. They cross over so you physically cannot use both at the same time.
You choose one or the other, and if you only have one in stock, you don't have to go out and find the other type! -
@timolaine Correct.
One or the other but not both. XORing battery placement. I approve.
