@sirosen damn that looks cool ... too bad I'm in the EU

I feel a little bad about putting the word out when I know it's not equally open to everyone.
There's no question in my mind that the degree and US requirements are depriving us of a lot of very cool and talented people.

@sirosen Not related to the job (I've boosted to share, just in case), but do you maybe need a hand with the analytics side? I can see you Google Analytics setup is pretty outdated. Maybe needs modernising?
That's if you're still actively making use of analytics.

@digitalstefan
I appreciate the offer, but probably not (just being real with you).Hiring for a university unit has to go through a few layers of bureaucracy. I would need to be able to articulate a very strong case to get folks to agree to add a position.
And we generally don't do limited term work or contracting because we pay a lot of overhead to onboard people.

@varx I think that's central HR having edited the description without having talked with our department. Bureaucracy is quite a thing!
We have 1-2 annual in-person events, and there's no requirement to be Chicago-local.

You are among the many people I would love to get to work with but who, for one reason or another, are ineligible for this.
Selfishly, that's disappointing. But it's also painful to not be allowed to share good things with good people.

@Felis_Catus_Domesticus
Just FYI, that reads as a little hostile. I will assume that wasn't your intent.Our software caters to research computing centers, US national labs, small university labs, and several data infrastructure initiatives like Compute Canada and the Earth Science Grid Federation.
So we aren't scientists and we don't do science directly, but we try to act as a force-amplifier for the support staff who are necessary to modern research.

@sirosen if, on the off chance, you ever need admin sort of people, please let me know. I miss working for schools, but I'm much better to be the person neurotically looking at broader info. I think everyone just sees Knoxville as all my work experience and is concerned that I don't actually live up here.
