The USA is spending over $1B/day on its Iranian misadventure. To put that into perspective, $1B is enough to buy over 10GW of solar panels (@ $0.1/W) or enough batteries for 150,000 cars (@ $100/kWh, 65kWh/car). Every. Day. Remember they spent over $2T on their Iraq misadventure. Keep telling me that renewables are expensive.

@bjn The issue was never that renewables cost too much for the people who buy renewables. the issue was always that the people who buy renewables cost too much for the people who sell oil.

So if they spend another $2T on this hideous war as they did in the last, you could buy 2000X the above numbers of panels or batteries. Yes you need to install the panels, wire them up, add inverters, put the batteries into things and so on, but it gives you an idea of the massive opportunity cost in other people’s blood and their own treasure that they are willing to spend on supporting fossil fuels.
