I will look in the same places three times, and then ask someone else to look, and it's there in one of the obvious places I checked thrice.

I literally can't win.

But, I mean, it could also have been misplaced or well placed and forgotten. That too.

When I find it, sometimes I put it back where I found it, because that is the one place I will remember and look first next time.

I actually watched the teacher that inspired this theory do •exactly• this. Searched the drawer where the key was supposed to be; couldn't find it. Searched •the entire seven room apartment•; couldn't find it. Looked in the drawer •again•; no joy.

While she was on the phone, busting the chops of the assistant who was supposed to have put it in the drawer—absently pulled the drawer open, & there it was.
