The latest Late Night Linux episode finally found the words to describe why work currently feels so weird.

What problem are we trying to solve with AI?
The problem that we're using too little AI!

That fits the atmosphere at work absolutely perfectly. And I don't understand it. Like at all.

How the hell is "How much you use LLMs" even a metric worth the power it takes to show the dashboard?

@mmeier a few axioms help me understand it.

      A) C-suite types are extremely bandwagon-y. If their peers (real or imagined) are posting about it on LinkedIn in the typical breathless house style, they're going to at least investigate it.

      B) C-suite types are also usually non-technical, so a dog and pony show that goes from 10 word prompt to working application is extremely impressive to them. Not that they're gullible or stupid by any means. They just are confident about making decisions with imperfect information.

      C) In at least a few cases the frontier labs have strategically planted moles on corporate boards who then of course say the business needs to move faster, of course using AI, of course with their company's products. Conflict of interest? Never heard of it.
