    Fiddling a bit with #GrapheneOS on my retired Pixel7.

    Used the Aurora app store to get Tidal installed...Aurora logs into Google Play store with automagic anon credentials. Then I login to Tidal as normal and off I go, works fine. Bit weird thought, not too confident in Aurora, it's still new to me, and I expect Google to attack it's approach.

    In the Tidal webUI in IronFox, I was able to get a few bars of music after disabling some protections, but now it's jammed and I get errors.

      since Google is attacking AOSP implementations like GrapheneOS, and attacking non-Play Store means of app delivery, I'll try as much as possible to just avoid apps altogether and just use websites instead. That's why we have browsers that contain the full complexity of an OS, right?

        @johnefrancis I went down this path too, to aid with a future move to a non-Android Linux phone.

          @neil @johnefrancis

          Waiting for a brave future when only those who get a 'subsidized' android/iOS phone can log into basic services on their laptop.

              @Purplegengar25 I find the official Mastodon app is available in all the alternative app stores, have been getting mine from f-droid, even on my daily stock Pixel 10

                @johnefrancis I am doing the same with a Pixel 6.

                I already prefer to use websites, in a hardened browser, when possible over telemetry filled applications.

                I would love to completely degoogle but that has proven challenging. Google is rather entrenched in my household so there's some friction to overcome there.

                I have also played with Lineage OS without Google services installed, and also with minimal GApps installed. That might be a good compromise.
