Good god. Everyone's using cloudflare now? I guess that's a good thing because better that than something like H trapsha, but also those who don't care now will certainly care when we see another outage and half the net doesn't work.

@flamulous This is the exact reason I hate cloudflare. Any problem on their end and 75% of the internet dies. Pisses me right TF off.

@Kaliah @flamulous Between them and AWS.

@flamulous the only reason I use cloudflares tunnels is because I guess earlier on we decided it was a great idea to not have proper reverse proxying. but yeah I agree, it's scary, in a way

@flamulous Yeah, that's why I stopped. Unless some botnet hates me, my reverse proxy on a simple VPS will be enough. Don't throw your eggs in one basket and all that stuff. Besides the CF interface is quite cluttered and it takes a while to get to where you wanna be and get stuff done.

@Rich @flamulous My specific problem with cloudflare is they have an hours long outage every 3 months or so. Once or twice a year at most I might be able to get behind it, nothing is up 100% of the time, but when your service powers half the internet you need to do better than that. I should not be subjected to my services randomly deciding to die because some middle man company can't keep their servers alive reliably.

@flamulous why not just altcha? that shit's so good and it's invisible even for us.

@flamulous I mean, what else do we have? It's not like any other service we use will not come to the same fate, yes?

@tunmi13 @flamulous The good old selfhosted reverse proxy on a VPS, for example. No judge from my side to people who use CF. It's 100% practical, important and useful for many things. But taking me as an example, I realised my VPS can do the same, if not a better reverse proxy job as a CF thunnel.
