So, are we in the 'Oops' phase right now or what?
-
@NickEast_IndieWriter Shouldn't that read "OK, climate change is real, but we like money too much to do anything about it"?
-
Following a similar time line to cigarettes and cancer …
-
@NickEast_IndieWriter fuck right wingers.
-
@NickEast_IndieWriter
I think we are getting very close to the 'f*ck' part -
@NickEast_IndieWriter if we're in the oops phase it's missing some other oil sponsor to say that "oh, well, it's too late to do something, keep using oil"
@electricsheep @NickEast_IndieWriter aka. the "we can save it all with carbon capture and storage (which has never worked)" and "everyone should switch to hydrogen (so we can continue to control the supply and make it from fossil fuels anyway)" lobby...
-
In the movie where the very bad is coming, and the big door is slowly coming down and the hero has to run hard then slide under the last inches of clearance?
That's us, and we're not running yet. Half way there. We have to start running.
Build all the solar, right now, faster.
-
@NickEast_IndieWriter Sadly, oops! and omg, dead! overlap
-
@NickEast_IndieWriter By "we" you mean? Who?
On Fediverse? We're already at "Fuck". The majority of the rest of the world still seems to be firmly stuck in "not caused by humans".
@roknrol @NickEast_IndieWriter
I thought there is extensive evidence that both Shell and Exxon actively thought themselves to be lying while paying researches to say those things at those times. -

For clarity, I was referring to the public in general.
@NickEast_IndieWriter -
@NickEast_IndieWriter depends on which "we" you mean
Sadly oops and fuck are unevenly geographically distributed.
Ideologically some people are still on the isn't real end of the spectrum. There's also a "it's real and I don't care because the coloured people who live somewhere else and the poors everywhere are the ones who will die first" group not shown on the graphic

@NickEast_IndieWriter@roknrol @screwlisp I was thinking more about a scientific average, I couldn't even pretend to care about what the public in general thinks

@RedRobyn That is certainly true, but lets say on a scientific average for all living things?

-
@NickEast_IndieWriter Sadly, oops! and omg, dead! overlap
@wendinoakland Oops and 'Oh shit, it's brown pants time' does seem have a significant statistical correlation...

-
@NickEast_IndieWriter Shouldn't that read "OK, climate change is real, but we like money too much to do anything about it"?
@MiasAlt It's more like, 'We know climate change is real, and sure our children and gradnchildren will die, but saving them doesn't make me richer now."

-
@NickEast_IndieWriter if we're in the oops phase it's missing some other oil sponsor to say that "oh, well, it's too late to do something, keep using oil"
@electricsheep I thought that was the Capitalist US, oligarch controlled Russia, and anti-humanitarian parts of the middle east?

-
@MiasAlt It's more like, 'We know climate change is real, and sure our children and gradnchildren will die, but saving them doesn't make me richer now."

@NickEast_IndieWriter I like yours better.

@NickEast_IndieWriter
As a planet, we're way into "fuck" -
-
@NickEast_IndieWriter
As a planet, we're way into "fuck"@ozzelot @NickEast_IndieWriter Half past “FUCK”, I presume
-
@NickEast_IndieWriter I'm pretty sure we're already at "fuck"
Even if we go completely carbon neutral yesterday, temperatures will be hotter for the rest of the century than they are today.
