I'm thankful for the people I surround myself with. We lift each other up, support one another, and enjoy and critique our writing. We're friends. I'm thankful to have made a lot of close friends (and I've even met my long-time girlfriend) through writing in general. Especially here as well, not to be forgotten. This place has changed my life for the better, and I've made so many amazing friends because of it. That's all down to writing, and it's heartwarming. It's a wonderful thought.

Alistair has never seen or eaten candy corn, but that's because it's the Victorian era. He's also a vampire, so he couldn't eat it. What he would do, however, is give some to his mortal (human) friends and let them enjoy it. That would give him a big smile.

My girlfriend. My friends. My family. My love and passion for it. All of those things keep me going, no matter what's going on in my life or how "tough" the writing process (or editing) gets for a while. It's why I stick it out and keep on truckin'.

#WordWeavers 11.30 — When writing, do you consider your topics to avoid book banning or fallout of any sort?

Never. F*ck book banning. I couldn't care less about bigots or how they would feel about my stories. If you're someone who finds their work banned, it's only because it's powerful and influential (and probably needs to be talked about). Your work, despite being banned, will *still* be found, only by different avenues.

I'll write what I want to write and I have my own readers, so it's alright in the end.

Alternatively, being serious as well, I won't step on the toes of anyone from another culture or ethnic group, but that's because I always stive to be a good person. Fallout is important. I don't want to hurt anyone. Some authors, as I've found, just don't care. I do, though. All (or most) of us here on Masto are good people in the writing community. I'm sure that's the usual thought process.

#WordWeavers 12.1 — In an alternate universe, you are the opposite of who you are. What's your story like there?

Let's talk about if I was dropped into my WIP but the opposite of who I am. Ha. I'd be an outgoing person, for one. I'm an introvert who suffers from pushed into big situations and family will call me an extrovert and laugh when I say differently. LOL.

I'd be a loud, outgoing, and uninhibited tavern / inn owner. I might even be beating up the nasty patrons and throwing them out by myself.

Good food, hearth smoke, and the delicate scent of herbs and flowers (when the time of year allows it). The scents of daily chores, cooking, and cleaning as well. Come to think of it, you can also smell perfumes, various hygiene habits, medical odors, etc.

Mind you, it's the Victorian era.

Hints: Fenella was gone from Scotland for 7 years. Someone else was gone as well, the one Alistair had sired, but no one knew where he went. She travelled the world in that time. Suddenly, women started going missing after the cases she worked as a private investigator, trying to help them. She had no idea this was happening, had already moved on to different areas, and she helped other women with philandering and cheating spouses. (Some of them she killed, yes, because they were irredeemable.) Who was following her, though? Someone was obsessed with her.

Too many. Alistair has a lot of bad ideas (but then again, so does Fenella).

• Withdrawing and shutting down emotionally whenever something goes wrong instead of communicating openly.
• Difficulty concentrating or making (the right) decisions when he's stressed.
• Avoiding people, places, or situations whenever he's stressed.
• Irritability and snapping at others when he's far too overwhelmed.

There are so many others, obviously.

This a romance story. Alistair and Fenella were lovers years ago, then turned friends, and she left Scotland to travel. She's returned again, though. There's someone after her, and he can't quite figure out who it is. He *still* loves her. Unbeknownst to anyone, she still loves him as well.

This is a "Lovers to Friends to Lovers" tale.

Here's an excerpt from Chapter 1:

“Has Fenella been by?” asked Hati. “When was the last time you saw her?”

He chuckled ruefully, caught off guard by the words and glancing her way. His ancient eyes, stark features, and dark expression pinned her in place as he replied, “You know damn well she hasn’t come home.”

The moment stretched on, silence enveloping them. The words were caught in her throat for the look on his face. Seeing her friend, someone she cared a great deal for, in agony would never get any easier.

“You still love her,” she remarked, blatant as could be. “Don’t deny it, please. Just this once, you don’t have to lie. It’s just us. I’ve known for a long time. I naïvely assumed she would have visited you. I heard rumors that she was in the area. I’m sorry for bringing it all up again. My intention wasn’t to bring you any heartache.”

This is such an interesting prompt for the universe that I'm currently creating. It's a supernatural tale and nature plays a rather big role in something like that. Nature is heavily entwined with the creatures we see in this story (and beyond). It's a major part of the universe.

#WordWeavers 12.14 — Are your characters incapacitated by injuries, or do they brush them off as flesh wounds?

Some of the cast in this story are supernatural creatures. We have werewolves, witches, and vampires featured in it, and to them injuries are far different. They *can* be hurt, they *can* die, but things are otherworldly when it comes to them. The mortals would never brush injuries off as mere "flesh wounds," though. Things are tough for them.

(Also, I'm a huge fan of Monty Python and the wording of this prompt had me giggling.)

I'm going to talk about my stories in general for this one. Profanity is featured. (Let's not even mention my stories for The Thick of It with Malcolm Tucker's mouth! Haha.) But yes, I do write quite a bit of swearing. My stories are definitely 21+ and that's perfectly fine.
