It occurs to me that there are other voices we should be listening to that aren't European or American in our internet spaces.

So Fediverse who else should we be reading when we worry about Internet Freedom?

About the centralisation dangers and censorship on the internet?

    Who are we drowning out?

    EDIT:

Like seriously, if you have a suggestion please reply. I'm enthusiastically asking.

@onepict Chinese activists. The PRC has the most sophisticated and comprehensive internet censorship and filtering mechanism in the world, and importantly: they also export their technology and knowledge to other repressive regimes.

@onepict The Taiwanese g0v civic tech community too: https://g0v.tw/intl/en/

The community is broadly interested in resisting tech authoritarianism, using open technology for societal good, ensuring digital freedom, and preserving democracy in our anti-democratic technological age.

I think the best way to get an idea is to look at the talks from the previous g0v summit (@summit) from 2024: https://summit.g0v.tw/2024/agenda/

@onepict I tend to boost them when I see them, and I often write from a systems perspective on topics related to privacy, et al, from a global perspective.

Been involved at the WSIS level in the past, the LAC region (pretty much a lost cause), etc.

                            Writing's on KnowProSE.com, increasingly so.

Not self promoting. Looking for like minds myself.

@violetmadder @onepict As an #autistic, #Mastodon is one of the only Social media platforms I can stomach, as it's toned down, with no invasive, distracting garbage built into the platform. No ads, no algorithms, just a small army of abrasive, sensationalist, agenda-loudmouthed people needing to be muted and blocked. Then it's awesome.

@knowprose @info Interesting I found your digital twin post resonates with my own post about digital poppets for @fluconf

You might want to take a look at the Stochastic Penal Colony with the digital twin in mind... I worked from Robert Grimm's excellent paper I found here on Mastodon. Linked in the post.

Digital Twins also get us in trouble in interesting ways. In some ways, the Internet has become a stochastic penal colony, but I'm getting ahead of myself. 🙂
