boring functional adult responsibilities: having an appointment with a financial advisor.
some attention has been devoted to this subject, but not enough, i don't think: how difficult it is for ordinary people to plan for a safe retirement without investing in the worst of the capitalist system. 'do you have any funds that don't include genocidal or ecocidal companies, and that actually make money?' well, not really, unless you're good enough at finance to play the market yourself.

also a little depressing: the 'are you married?' or 'are you saving for a house?' questions. i get why these are necessary but it doesn't stop me from feeling judged for my spinster aunt lifestyle when i say no.
'what are your financial goals?' i would like to plan for a retirement where i am not solely reliant on our poverty-grade Canada Pension Plan. because the days of working for the same employer for 35 years and collecting a reasonable pension from that are dead as a doornail.
