    This is not something done trivially. 'Severe' means a significant attack is considered likely in the next six months. There's only one higher rating, 'critical', meaning an attack is imminent in the near future.

    Reporting says this is not solely due to the antisemitic attack in Golders Green but rather linked to a wider threat of Islamic terrorism.

    Coming before two bank holiday weekends and an election next week, this is very bad.
