@etherdiver People are actually doing that? That makes no sense at all, wth. Masto has proven - at least for me - to be a great tool to discover cool stuff and to get discovered.

Yes, and . . . are you okay with people who use it only to promote their work and don't interact? I guess I am okay with that, too. Being an artist is hard. I prefer to interact with people, but in the end I guess if the art is interesting to me, I appreciate the opportunity to see (or hear) it. If I don't like it I can ignore it going forward. I have to remind myself that unlike commercial social media I am not seeing 2-3 ads between each post. -

I have to remind myself that unlike commercial social media I am not seeing 2-3 ads between each post.@geos It's not how I would hope people would approach things, and I doubt it would be very effective, but yeah, I am okay with it, and if it was too much for me, I'd unfollow rather than raise hell/scold them.

@etherdiver You know what I say to people trying to impose their rules on me?
If you’re not paying for server costs, you get no say. But even if you could, I don’t want your filthy money—so you never get the privilege of pushing arbitrary rules on me.
I’d rather be on Team Art than Team Reply Guy. -

@etherdiver I think people should sell their art etc on here. There are no algorithms pushing content so it is nice to see honest people posting their work and are willing to sell it. This is why we are here, it is a more real version of social media.

@etherdiver my take away from this is... there's really people who are soooo disconnected from art, that artists ring their "corporate infiltration" alarm. Wild.
