@cstross I still needed glasses after my two were done a coupel of years ago. Apparently they could correct astigmatism OR make my eyesight perfect both near and far not both. (Now need reading glasses) . SO worth it!

@cstross I haven't yet found a copy of The Regicide Report, but I believe there was a directive from Number 10 to update the ophthalmology charts to include symbols intended for the pre-literate under the PM's "Seeing is Believing" programme. They featured an ornate border and early results were largely promising with some reports of corrected vision as good as 20/10 and a general sentiment that patients gave quicker and more helpful feedback when checking subjective, patient-reported vision quality. Eventually, there was to be a wider roll-out as general posters, but I can't seem to locate any specifics on the specific governmental messaging new to that programme.

@cstross @SeEaldaEoh That's the mark of a true professional, measure twice cut once so that the refurbished item is operating close to factory spec. Definitely better than going to the cheap guys down the road who will only *eyeball* it.
