      @Strandjunker my idea is tax refund day and vote day combined. Walk out with a check and a 'i voted' sticker'

        @Strandjunker Why nix President’s Day? No reason we can’t have both.

          @Strandjunker more effective I think would be to make all voting mail-in.

            @Strandjunker I'd much rather have a fully "vote by mail" system in every state than a national holiday.

            That means ballots are automatically sent by mail to all registered voters. Completed ballots can be mailed back or taken to an official drop box. The system should also include provisions for homeless voters, voters with disabilities who can't use paper ballots, etc.

                  @Strandjunker How about we make election day on a Sunday, like almost every other democracy everywhere, so people don't have to skip work or rush to or from work.

                    How is anonymity ensured with this method?

                    I'm from a country where voting is guaranteed to be anonymous, so I look at this and feel a bit weird.

                      @Strandjunker

                      Indeed, voting—as a sign of a vibrant democracy—deserves to be celebrated much more than deceased presidents.

                      But the incumbent president certainly holds the opposite view.

                                That sounds very reasonable. I wouldn't mind if they implemented the same here, tbh.

                                I had to make a tough decision on the last election because they changed the place of voting to somewhere inaccessible for me, and the only disability accommodation they've come up with was taking the urn outside and making me vote in front of people, and therefore my vote wouldn't be secret.

                                  @Strandjunker B b but then the GQP would never win again because many more people would be able to get away from work to vote! (especially those who live paycheck to paycheck in hourly jobs)

                                  Oh right…. That would be a very good thing. 😉

                                    After Sunday Service, Georgia Churches Get Souls To The Polls

                                    If Democrat Michelle Nunn wins in Georgia, it will likely be because of strong African-American voter turnout. Black churches are busing congregants to early voting locations after Sunday services.
