"Voters in a small Missouri town, unhappy with the city council’s approval of a $6 billion data center, struck back at the polls last week, ousting all four incumbent council members running for reelection.

The rout of half the Festus City Council was fueled by a surge in voter turnout and widespread frustration with the data center approval process."

@jalefkowit Seems like a legal and appropriate way by which to help politicians remember who they are supposed to work FOR. ...and it's not themselves or their personal enrichment. But when Presidents like Fascist Jesus set such a bad example how can mere mortals withstand such divine leadership alone???

"The major council shakeup came after months of growing fervor against its members and Mayor Sam Richards over CRG Clayco's plan to build a likely hyperscale data center on 360 acres just north of Highway 67.

The four council members who supported the development were ousted by four candidates who each ran on pro-transparency and anti-data center platforms. The council has a total of eight members."

@jalefkowit There needs to be a national ban on data centers, & every big tech company should be paying for what they've done to us & our energy bills these past several years. Criminal.

A different location (west of St. Louis), is also fighting these data center builds. In spite of NDAs,, it was revealed that it is Amazon and Google pushing for these.

This location is a horrible choice. There is no major river close by.
