like, this is funny and everything, but does not **at all** accurately describe the median AI booster person.

like, this is funny and everything, but does not **at all** accurately describe the median AI booster person. Sam Altman is gay. the CEOs of Alphabet and Microsoft are Indian-American. the head of Y Combinator is Garry Tan. the whole "rationalism" scene is **loaded** with trans people.
i think there's this 2010s Tumblr/Twitter identity wars assumption that people with non-white, non-straight identities must be progressive allies, and i think it contributed to blinding everyone to the fascism growing at the heart of Silicon Valley. yeah, straight white men, sure, but also women, Jews, gays, Indians and Indian-Americans, Chinese and Chinese-Americans, queers and non-binary, neurodivergent, honestly diversity was not any kind of protection **at all**

except for people of African descent. they were consistently underrepresented in Silicon Valley, consistently the ones speaking up and saying "hey, Silicon Valley kinda sucks", and (as far as i can tell) they are nowhere to be found in the AI boosters camp. with people like Timnit Gebru **vocally** and professionally saying "fuck this."

@peter classism plays a big role here. Satya Nadella (Microsoft), Shantanu Narayen (Adobe), Ajay Banga —(Mastercard) ,Shailesh Jejurikar (Procter gamble) all went to the same school (Hyderabad Public School)

Knowing personally some trans people, I find difficult to accept they will join such group.

I just searched about it, and I'm shocked. 🤬
The right wing white rich gay dude exists here as well. And I despise them. But nothing to my knowledge like the Zs.

@peter
But you expect that members from the LGTBIQ+ community with such long history of violence, repression, censorship etc... will encompass better human beings.

@peter I’m still shocked and saddened to have discovered this personally — my cousins voted for him. But the one that sent me over the edge was the American tourist of Indian descent who I met in Iceland and who told me he was going to vote for him, and when I asked, “the guy who wants to take away your citizenship and deport you and your parents?” He just said “well, that’s just words, he doesn’t mean it.”
I think of him weekly.
