@AAKL @Engadget while they might be dominant. to my knowledge nintendo does this, microsoft does this, pretty sure some percentage valve does this, as does epic. (them on the pc end of things). Micorsoft aft this point may be screw it....but sony and nintendo will try to make the fight over this with apple and google app stores look like a cake walk.

@ppb1701 @Engadget there are different prices for different regions, so maybe that's what the lawsuit is referencing?

Valve was torched last year for overcharging Brazilians.

@AAKL @Engadget yeah, i'd forgotten that. but maybe that's it. but they will certainly not want alternatives aside from "physical" media. Especially nintendo...just look at their war on emulation...even on very older systems.

@ppb1701 @Engadget No, and the argument the plaintiffs make isn't going to hold.

"It argues that Sony 'has a near monopoly' on add-on content and digital games through the PlayStation store, allowing it to set the prices and take a 30 percent commission."

@AAKL @Engadget well technically they do...but they will not want to open things open and none of them will be for buy it on one store unlock on all. At same point barring forcing all things to get internet at large (basically it's a pc)....they are maintaining everything on their proverbial dime.
