I'm curious to hear others' opinions:
1. Is this stuff artistic/empowering/objectifying/exploitative/other things?
2. Does that change based on my own identity or demographic?
3. Does it matter that this is an anime/digital style, as opposed to realism or "fine art?"(Cont'd

️)@jsstaedtler@mastodon.art I see your posts from time to time and I happen to be a frequent Opinion Haver, so I'll chime in
1: art is art, no matter the subject, and all art is valuable. I've never seen anything from you that gives a bad impression either, I only see art made by an artist who knows what he likes and seems to be enjoying himself, and that's cool
2: as long as your work comes from a genuine place, no. maybe it would matter if you were trying to push a sensitive message specific to and from the perspective of someone you're not, but even then, all you need is input from the right people to make that genuine too
3: yes actually, but I mean that positively. I think stylistic choices and preferences matter a lot because they deviate from "fine art". it's more personal as a result. so many thousands of art teachers continue to turn their noses up at this and yet stylization persists. I like that
(also realism in general just doesn't appeal to me) -
