Going to Tucson for work, what’s good there?

La Indita has great Mexican/indigenous food, a nice outdoor dining area and great politics. For Ethiopian food, I like Café Desta.
If you like indie theaters, The Loft theater is great.
Nature and hiking? All the mountains that rise up around Tucson have a great trails. If you're unfamiliar with Sonoran Desert ecology and want to learn, Sonoran Desert Museum is a great way to spend a day.
Westbound is a nice little outdoor bar over at The Annex.
Looks like you're into cycling, so there are mountain bike trails all over at the edge of town as well as the loop trail which goes all the way around the city.
Rocks And Ropes is a pretty cool climbing gym. Maybe not quite up to the standards of some of the really massive big city ones, but nice vibe and I like it. And then there's an unlimited supply of actual rock climbing of Mount Lemmon.
IDK, what are you looking for?
Just went to Barrio Brewing Company for the first time a few days ago, right down the street from the climbing gym and I really liked it.
If you need signs, posters, stickers and so on printed, the Gloo Factory is run by a bunch of rad activists.

We visited the Biosphere2 when visiting a couple of years ago and I found that interesting… of course I remember when they built it and so confidently locked themselves in the 80s. It’s a little out of town but a couple hours in interest.
Also enjoyed hiking up into the mountains and a visit to the botanical gardens -

@Kevin I love Tucson, but my last visit was right before the pandemic, almost exactly [checks notes…] SIX years ago. Had a lovely browse and purchase at Antigone Books on Fourth Ave which still seems to be there, and I can second the recommendation of Loft Cinema. One theme of Tucson for me is astronomy, and I’ve enjoyed the Nightly Observing Program at Kitt Peak, but it requires advance reservations and is an hour drive from downtown.

@Kevin it's been a while so probably trash reply but Food Conspiracy co-op. The bike co-op had a sprawling amazing basement of a historic warehouse that was built like a fortress, complete with ramp down in to it. The loss of that was an incredible injustice. We'd ride down from Phoenix and Tucson was always good to us so I really want to say nice things but that a while ago =(

@Kevin If you're a science geek, UofA: Mirror Lab, Museum of Optics, Mineral Collection. Kitt Peak, Bisbee and Tombstone are nice day trips. Pima Air & Space Museum if you're an aircraft geek. Lots of nearby state parks for hiking. My travelogues for more info - https://joetourist.ca/destinations/north-america/usa/az/

@Kevin oh! I almost forgot Houlden's Rise Above is the absolute best bakery I've ever been to hands down. It is a vegan bakery, but that does not make it any less. It's truly amazing, if I lived in Tucson I would be there every day they're open.

Speedway used to be the best place to go walk around. Could usually find a special for a burger, fries, and a beer. We used to go bowling back in my day. That was 25 years ago though.
