    Just installed a new 9-speed Shimano chain on a 9-speed Shimano drivetrain. What could go wrong?

    The chain feels wider than it should be, and jumps off the gears. The reason?

    “In Shimano’s CUES series, the “LINKGLIDE” shifting system is used; however, the chains are compatible with the HYPERGLIDE system’s “HG-X 11-speed chains.”

    “CUES sprockets are not compatible with drivetrain components made for the HYPERGLIDE”

    So, buy 11-speed chains (that wear out faster) for your 9-speed system. Brilliant 🙄

    One more reason to hate derailleurs for me, that's for sure. You know what's never wrong? a 1s chain on my gear hub.

        @Anibyl Yup, my next bike will be a Pinion gearbox bike for sure. I just want to ride, not solve problems that have increasingly expensive solutions.

          @Anibyl Cues makes me so grumpy, and I've never even touched a bike with Cues. Sold as a "do anything" groupset/sytem, but with _soooo_ many _new_ limitations.

            @voiceofunreason Maybe it's better if you alreay know all the nuances, but as of now I've bought 2 chains that didn't work. User error, I guess 😒

              @Anibyl even Russ from Path Less Pedaled, someone that has been drivetrain hacking on camera for many years now is frustrated with it, so it makes sense that many bike riders and bike shop workers are also frustrated.

                @Anibyl
                I had the opposite problem, almost bought a Shimano CUES chain for a Shimano Hyperglide drivechain – as it was a good price.

                So on that note, "KMC xGlide" or "KMC xGlide EPT" chains should fit your Cues system (but not Hyperglide).
