A #weather statement from the #NWS issued for this afternoon, as our humidities plummet and the winds pick up.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH THIS
    EVENING...

Relative humidity values will fall into the 25 to 30 percent
range again this afternoon, with winds increasing to around 10 to
15 mph with gusts of 15 to 25 mph. With vegetation remaining dry,
the ongoing drought, and favorable meteorological conditions,
fires will be able to catch and spread rapidly.

A burn ban issued by the North Carolina Forest Service remains in
effect across the entire state of North Carolina until further
    notice.

Oh man, I know you folks have to deal with this so much more of this than we do. I hope you get the needed precip sometime soon as well.

The new drought map is out, and the extreme drought area is spreading.
