@davidgerard I have not heard Itanium mentioned in a long while, so thanks for resurfacing those nightmares.
In 2007 I was assigned to do all the engineering work to move our fortune 100 company's stuff on HPUX with PA-RISC to Itanic. Some doofus decided this vs Linux. Single point of failure to redundant systems; Sybase, 20k+ batch jobs, MQ, C/C++, Java. All done in ~ 9 months. Giant cookbook for teams to follow.
We then even upgraded to Itanium 2, then HPVMs...ugh. Really poor architects.
