@cR0w I JUST started getting my mental health and my physical health in order, and here's orange mussolini threatening to start WW3.

@da_667 Keep on it though. You / we need to stay healthy more now than ever. At least you know there are other people here dealing with similar shit to lean on.

@da_667 @cR0w I've literally spent MONTHS working my ass off on writing. Seriously busting ass. Prepping new infrastructure.

And today has literally just been an overwhelming "why fucking bother?"

@rootwyrm @cR0w I'm right there with you right now. I just got out of the hospital the second time in two years, my dog is injured. I had a hard enough time getting focused enough to do my work today, and I'm just not seeing a point to doing any of it right now.

@da_667 @cR0w I start a job on monday where I finally make market, the relief of which is undoing like three years of burnout awful quick.

So naturally, a guy I have zero influence over is going to balls it up for the 90-odd percent of us that aren't even in his jurisdiction and all the people who have solutions to this problem are doing nothing.

@da_667 @cR0w I spent the early afternoon intermittently prepping a lecture on Android-to-baseband communications/SMS encoding while also doomscrolling for any little bit of optimism. Kinda feels like the morning of the intro sequence of Fallout 4. The constant state of "need to act normal while freaking out" is... horrific.

the thought of an impending tactical nuclear strike is really throwing me right now. Even assuming no nukes, the president is actively advocating war crimes.

What the fuck is the point of any of this.

@da_667 I don't, it's not normal. That doesn't mean I can't keep doing my part though. There's a world without him waiting and I'll still keep trying to build it until he's gone.

@krypt3ia @da_667 when your entire persona is built on never ever admitting error or fault, it becomes both impossible to compromise but also impossible to learn or improve or change course, even when you might desperately want to. And I think when you've been living that lie this long, you believe it yourself and now nothing is your fault, everything is somebody else's, and somehow you are simultaneously in control of everything yet responsible for nothing.

I learned today that nothing I do in my personal life can outweigh the consequences of my professional output, so I'm right there with you.

@Dio9sys @rootwyrm @cR0w honestly, the only thing that well and truly motivates me to keep working is that I can almost immediately see the fruit of my work helping to find bad shit on the internet the same day new detection engineering is finished. Its wild to see things you wrote on a wing a prayer, and half a screen shot of a web request end up in malware sandboxes globally.
