    People are upset about Ring's "Search Party" ad not because they're opposed to finding lost dogs; everybody supports that, but because they don't trust tech companies. They're skeptical that the feature ends with finding dogs and won't be extended to spying on them.

    Deploying cameras in your home is a big step of trust, especially when the footage is stored in somebody's cloud. You're trusting that the cameras are there to serve your purposes and that you have control over...

      ... the footage. The notion that a tech company, which may have other motives, might access those cameras without your explicit consent is troubling.
