Dumb idea:
You walk up to a dungeon entrance, it has been blocked off for thousands of years. The researchers with you claim the strange runes on the front of the door tell a story, and only those who understand it can speak the passphrase and open the door.
You look up at the runes for a second before frowning.
"Is that fucking Loss?"
The door opens.@ArcanePigeon I usually google jokes that I don’t get but „loss“ is impossible to google. Would you maybe, if it isn’t too much work, quickly tell what the joke is referring to?

@nicolai Google loss.jpg instead.

The door opens.This is an amazing way for civilisations to leave behind heritage for any stragglers by making the password something incredibly hard to decipher with precision but incredibly virally meme-y.
This way only those with the lost cultural context would be the only ones to be able to open the heritage!
Never gonna give you up!

@nicolai @ArcanePigeon
When someone brings up the "loss" meme they are referring to the picture on the left, which can be simplified as the rune-like image on the right.

Indeed, there are few doors that haven't get opened for centuries, if not millenia.
I wonder why and what's behind them?

The door opens.@ArcanePigeon I was on a dead comedy forum, posting in the webcomics thread when Loss arrived. It has been so long, almost 2 decades now (?) and I still see new Loss content. I feel like Buckley and CAD are long forgotten, but loss survives.

@roy_fireball @nicolai @ArcanePigeon that brings up more questions than it answers… fortunately searching for “loss meme” basically finds those answers - https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/loss

@ShadSterling actually it doesn’t and the answer was very good for me. Skill issue @roy_fireball @ArcanePigeon

I'm sorry that I wasn't able to answer a question you didn't ask I guess?@roy_fireball @nicolai @ArcanePigeon that’s funny. I usually get yelled at for asking, usually by someone complaining that I should have done the same search I did before asking, as if it would find an answer it didn’t find. But here is a complaint for having done the search and found an answer.

@nicolai @roy_fireball @ArcanePigeon must be nice, being able to deduce the whole story from that one post. Can’t imagine that thought process would ever lead to a wrong answer.

The door opens.@ArcanePigeon it's amazing to me that, at the time, I was actively reading the comic. On that day I absolutely did not anticipate how that single strip would form the internet for decades to come.
