Windows 12 is due to come out this year.

    1) Your computer does not meet the system requirements. Again.

    Why?

Your PC will need a dedicated NPU — a specialized processor designed to handle AI tasks. So, if you recently bought a new PC just to use Windows 11, Microsoft wants you to go shopping again.

    2) It will finally, unfortunately, introduce a subscription model.

That's right — you read that correctly. They want you to pay and keep paying to use the computer you just bought. Technically, you won’t own your computer while Windows is installed.

NOW is the time to try Linux. Stop waiting. Don’t make excuses. Don’t even complain — we all knew this day was coming. Either try Linux, or admit you’re Microsoft’s little bitch.

    Source? Yes, this is real.

@NetscapeNavigator Let the normies eat shit and die with Microslop.

Every sane person would move to Linux and have it as their base OS. Wanna use Windows, just fire up a VM if the RAM allows or have a disposable flash drive with Windows 10/11 LTSC install on it.

@OSchell @NetscapeNavigator That article may have a point, but the site itself is so bad, so much ads and several popups, that I refuse to finish reading the article. But thanks for pointing it out.

@NetscapeNavigator The core OS will stay sub-free. And the optional features seem to be all AI.
Only the NPU part is really bothering me, everything else i don't care for.
If you really want to let people switch to Linux, concentrate on its strengths, not on the weaknesses of others. Open-source doesn't need populistic language and half-truths.

@NetscapeNavigator At the same time as California is leading the charge to cripple consumer computing with ID requirements...
And the AI firms have bought up all the RAM, SSD and flash...
And bought all the HDD from Western Digital...
And Google is closing Android to developers who don't want to buy into their syndicate...

This is the end-run to destroy FOSS and consumer computing. You will rent what they offer and comply with their terms or you won't have a computer.

@fedithom @NetscapeNavigator I mean, I'd not use it or advise anyone else to.

I'm just not confident in the facts cited in the piece OP linked. Not because I think MS is too good to pull that kind of stuff, though

Yes! This is the way - but currently, we can't *all* go there. Linux needs a LOT of work on #Accessibility.

This needs to become a priority, pronto, because many folks who rely on assistive technologies are unable to use Linux effectively. That SUCKS.

If you are a #Linux #Dev, please consider taking on an #a11y side-project.

Here is the problem with Windows Central — they’ve been known to kiss Microsoft’s ass.

Does anyone remember how they first said Windows 11 would not require TPM 2.0? Or how, when it was finally officially announced that TPM 2.0 was required, Windows Central tried to tell us how great this was for security?

Every other news source, from PC Magazine to PCWorld to ZDNet, is warning you about the future — you should listen.

Or you can be hopeful and wishful and trust Windows Central.
