      And, actually, it reinforces how much I don't give a shit about genres, all I care about is artistic intent and perspective.

      From my scene, indiepop, that was a hugely political movement in the '80s. But I see people copying the genre superficialities and totally leaving out the politics, the engine, the *soul* of the music.

      You can't be McCarthy just by using the same fucking pedals they did.
