    Europe needs access to affordable, clean energy.

    We're taking action to help EU countries implement energy-saving measures that work, including:

    πŸ‘‰ Fast-tracking the EU Grids Package to ensure our electricity network is efficient and good value

    πŸ‘‰ Moving away from imported fossil fuels and towards homegrown sources – the only way to truly protect people and industry from price shocks

    For an energy system that works for you.

    @EUCommission First energy-saving measure should be getting rid of useless AI datacenters. We can't seriously ask people to worry about saving energy while at the same time we allow big tech to evaporate all our water to make slop.

      @EUCommission

      Nuclear is out then, as well, because it is neither clean nor affordable (nor safe).

        @EUCommission this is undermined by the fact that tech companies can successfully lobby to hide the real cost of their datacentres.

        US tech firms successfully lobbied EU to keep datacentre emissions secret

        Legally questionable confidentiality clause adopted almost word for word from demands of Microsoft and trade groups

            i'd rather have you not post an image at all than generate one with the plagiarism machine. the top of the left switch is off-center and the left switch is at an angle while the right switch is facing directly toward the camera.
            don't use genai for your images, please. this is _not_ the future, just a dystopia that will leave us all in the dust soon. nobody wants this.

              @christof @EUCommission someone better tell Macron as the French government is obsessed with nuclear plants. They are pressing ahead with SMRs after their ERP plans ran billions over budget and are over a decade late...

              And EDF the state owned electricity company hates solar and wind, in fact anything that detracts from their nuclear fleet...

                  @EUCommission you should also reduce AI related expenses, since is not an essential and very expensive.

                  AI is so resource and energy intensive.

                    @christof @EUCommission Well, the danger factor is valid only in the "if" scenario as there has been more serious incidents in regards to fossil fuel.

                    The more unfortunate thing about this (apart from the cost and the fact that we have no way of dealing with Nuclear waste) is that we'd need to get Uranium from Russia.
