yahoo news | Trump’s DOJ Shredded ‘Huge’ Pile of Epstein Docs After Death by undefined

Less than a week after disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in a New York jail, a Justice Department “After‑Actions” team from the Bureau of Prisons entered the Metropolitan Correctional Center and shredded what officials described as “huge amounts of paperwork.” An FBI‑drafted report—name redacted—notes that bags of shredded documents were taken to a dumpster at the rear gate, with at least one inmate assisting in the disposal. The report also records that officials from the Office of the Inspector General, the FBI and the BOP were present, and that the dumpster was scheduled for pickup the following Monday, prompting a warning that anything of interest needed to be retrieved before then.

The circumstances of Epstein’s death, officially ruled a suicide, have fueled numerous conspiracy theories. Newly released surveillance footage shows two prison guards walking near Epstein’s cell the night of his death, apparently ignoring mandatory 3 a.m. rounds and later falsifying records to claim they had checked on him; criminal charges against the guards were eventually dropped. Former Attorney General William Barr said he was “appalled” by the death and that it raised “serious questions that must be answered.” In the days after the suicide, the DOJ directed the NYPD to stand down its investigation and asked New Mexico authorities to suspend probing Epstein’s Zorro Ranch property, which is alleged to be a burial site for two foreign girls.

The Trump administration has been under intense scrutiny for its ties to Epstein. While the FBI and DOJ eventually released roughly half of the seized files—about 3.5 million documents, heavily redacted—Trump’s supporters condemned the releases as a “Democrat hoax,” echoing long‑standing conspiracy narratives promoted by former FBI director Kash Patel and others. Trump, who maintained a decades‑long friendship with Epstein, dismissed the documents as a political ploy and urged his base to “move on.” The released records mention the president’s name thousands of times, though the White House continues to deny any wrongdoing.
